2023-10-27 (♀): New single: Volveré entre los vivos / Let There Be (Love)
2023-06-10 (☽): Obituary
2022-12-09 (♀): The stars page has been updated
I gave my stars (characters) page a new design to
fit the new characters I made. I hope you enjoy the pixel art, if nothing
else!
2022-10-31 (☽): Halloween 2022
2022-09-17 (♄): Microsoft Chat avatars
I made a couple of avatars for this long forgotten IRC client because
I've been using it with some friends and it's really fun. Goddammit!
2022-09-12 (♀): I'm making Spanish versions for more of my pages
As the title says, I'm slowly working towards a truly bilingual site. It's
a lot of work, but I think it's worth it if at least one person reads a
page of mine that's in Spanish, and it really does happen! Except for pages
in the notes section, I'm making use of the templating
engine of my web server to change the language of compatible pages if the
URL has the query string
?es=1
. I decided against using
cookies and HTTP headers for language selection because I block cookies
myself and it would be hypocritical of me to use them, and HTTP headers are
unreliable (but you can try to convince me otherwise). Not all pages are
translated yet but the main page is and everything directly linked from it
has a Spanish version. Eventually I'd like to take this EVEN FURTHER and
build an RSS feed with updates in Spanish. Man, it really is a lot of work
but I'm too far into this to back out now. But also I really like how it
works and I love my language so it's fine. Thank you for reading.
2022-07-02 (♄): Doodles
I added a page showcasing all the crappy
drawings I've made since high school. It's unsorted and quality varies
wildly... no bulli pls
2022-06-11 (☿): Hourly Precure card
This new thing is a sort of viewer for
the cards from the discontinued Precure mobile game Precure Tsunagaru
Puzzrun. There are almost 800 cards and the one you get when you visit
the page is unique to you and changes every hour.
2022-04-09 (♄): New single: Blackout / Nothing
I just released
two more tracks
on Bandcamp, be sure to check them out!
They follow my usual style; the second has a slight techno influence,
but not a lot.
2022-02-15 (♂): My Earthbound engine has been ported to GMS 2.3
At long last, my very old Earthbound template for Game Maker was ported to
a current iteration of the program and it should now be accessible to
people using GMS 2.3. A million thanks to Jevilhumor, the author of the
port, for being so kind to share the code with me, and to Pauluigi, who got
Jevilhumor to contact me in the first place.
2022-02-09 (☿): cidoku.net now available over standard HTTP
I enabled HTTP access to the site to support older browsers and operating
systems. I'm sure this might seem like a strange decision, but I mostly did
it because I have no life and love to pretend it's still 2006 (shrug). You
should probably still access my site over HTTPS if you can, though.
2022-02-01 (♂): I added a guestbook to the site
I'd been thinking about adding a guestbook to cidoku.net for a while and I
just got around to it... I don't think it'll see much use, but it's nice to
have. I'm using HTML Comment Box so sadly it won't be available for people
who (rightfully) block Javascript, but it lets you post anonymously and
share images, so that's cool, ain't it?
2022-01-19 (☿): New section: Flash animations
Lately I've started making my own animations
using Macromedia Flash 8.
They're of course intended to be played in your browser, for which you can
use the old Flash plugin, Ruffle, or Lightspark. You can also download the
SWFs and watch them offline with the standalone projector, but also the
desktop versions of the other open tools I mentioned.
Why the hell?
Because I was inspired by lolwut's celebration of Flash; read it if you have time. I grew up in the 2000s playing Flash games and watching Flash animations like many people my age and kept stumbling upon them until I switched to Linux around 2016. I never tried to make my own, though, instead spending my time on music making and Game Maker. Now that I've tried it I can see it's a wonderful, easy to use software that nourishes a very rewarding creative process. In short: fun things are fun! Flash is ours to keep alive, no matter what the inept Adobe says. But isn't it insecure?
Who cares? You can set Flash Player as click-to-run and only allow it on sites you trust, like this one. Newer implementations like Ruffle should be as safe as your browser. Do you trust your browser?2022-01-17 (☽): Until Next Time / Tennis
I just released Until Next Time / Tennis, a single consisting of two tracks I started in 2012 and only now managed to complete. Thanks for listening!
2021-12-25 (♄): Christmas 2021
2021-12-18 (♄): Shirogami
This new page is dedicated to the mascot
of cidoku.net, Shirogami. There's a bio and an art gallery, featuring
fan art!
